OH MY GOODNESS, THANK YOU! &=
nbsp;I’ve had my fingers crossed forever, hoping for a full house last nigh=
t, and YOU MADE IT HAPPEN!
THANK YOU, first of all, to Armando Orzuza & Nuria Martinez for bringing their frie=
nds and colleagues JULIO BALMACEDA & VIRGINIA VASCONI =
to Stuart. It was a privilege to have instructors of their ca=
liber grace our little studio. Although I was busy at the front desk and el=
sewhere during the workshop, I loved the first comment I heard from Julio: =
You are all using too much space! Then he and Virginia proceeded t=
o share technique that makes it possible and comfortable to dance socially=
=2E (This ties in perfectly with this month’s Wednesday workshop topic with=
Armando & Nuria — scroll down for details!) Of course t=
heir performance was gorgeous… man, do we all have a lot of tango work to=
do!
As always, Chuck Hand created a marvelou=
s playlist, plus video customized with performances by our special guests=
=2E Then there were so many food gifts for the table — shortbrea=
d bites from Lorely, fresh squeezed Fort Pierce grapefruit=
juice from Silvia, apples & cheese (and a scrumptious=
rasberrry cake to celebrate Nuria’s birthday) from Deborah, orzo salad from Kathleen, and homemade empanadas from Maritza!
Several people commented on the great=
turnout. It was indeed fabulous, but again I say it happened because each =
and every person in the room decided to be there. (Think about that next ti=
me you plan to go to a milonga, or not!) Special thanks to those who drove =
from as far away as Daytona Beach and Melbourne, to the small flock of snow=
birds, and those who brought friends for the first time… and to a lovely =
couple of Armando & Nuria’s students from Italy! Of course, to all the =
“locals” from Boynton Beach to Vero Beach, big hugs and thanks for your ong=
oing support!
Finally, humble thanks to my dear friends Deborah and Augie who always stay to help =
clean up and then share the afterglow over wine and good conversation into =
the wee hours.
If you had a good time, please tell your friend=
s! If there is anything I can do to make your milonga experience better, pl=
ease let me know! If you weren’t there, do not miss the next event! Don’t t=
ake it for granted — Take advantage!
PLEASE JOIN ME every WEDNESDAY for workshops with Armando &=
; Nuria.
And THIS FRIDAY, MARCH 11 — An Evening of Tango with R=
ichard Council and DJ/VJ Chuck Hand! Scroll down for details…
March 5, 2016 – Julio Balmaceda, Nuria Martinez, Virginia Vascon=
i, and Armando Orzuza at Milonga de Corazón. Thanks to the photo=
grapher, and to Armando for posting on facebook!

HOW to CREATE &am=
p; MAINTAIN THE FLOW of the social dance floor — using =
GROUNDED ENERGY and the MUSIC to move with FLUIDITY in an EMBRACE that COMM=
UNICATES with your partner.
When leaders feel the floor is too crowded, it may mean: (a) not=
everyone understands how the music not only inspires each couple’s dance b=
ut also guides the fluidity and flow of the dance floor; and/or (b) they don’t know how to dance cir=
cularly in a small space, and/or (c) other couples on the floor don’t know =
how to dance circularly in a small space,
In this workshop ser=
ies, Armando & Nuria will share their extensive knowledge, technique, a=
nd tips for managing the floor and creating a better tango experience for e=
veryone!

AR=
MANDO ORZUZA first enc=
ountered tango at age 14, when he was a sound technician at a tango perform=
ing house in Buenos Aires. There he was surrounded by the foremost dancers,=
singers, and orchestras of the tango world. Ten years later he began to st=
udy tango dance with the original milongueros, and began his =
professional tango career in 1990. For 16 years, Armando and his then partn=
er Daniela Arcuri performed in the Broadway show “Tango Pasion,” consulted =
and choreographed for the movie “Evita” and Madonna’s 2004 “Re-Invention” t=
our. Armando has taught and performed all over the world, and also appeared=
as principal dancer in the film “Assassination Tango” with Robert Duvall=
=2E
NURIA MARTINEZ=
is well versed in ballet, cont=
emporary and jazz dance as well as tango and other dance and movement disci=
plines. She holds a degree in Dance & Education from Empire State Colle=
ge. In addition she has a Diploma from the Merce Cunningham Studio in NYC, =
and a Certificate in Dance Studies from the Laban Centre in London. In 2004=
she apprenticed with Jennifer Muller/The Works, was an extra member of the=
Ballet at the Metropolitan Opera House, and a highlighted cast member of t=
he Washington Opera Ballet. She has appeared in documentaries, theater, fil=
m and TV in Spain and the US. Nuria has designed and implemented K-12 dance=
curriculum in NYC area public schools and colleges, and taught master clas=
ses for professional dancers… and that’s only scratching the surface of N=
uria’s talent.

FRIDAY – MARCH 5th
An Evening of Tango with RICHARD COUNCIL
=
Nationally known professional instructor =
RICHARD COUNCIL will be in Stuart for his monthly workshop and milonga. Onl=
y Titusville can also claim that distinction; every other tango community i=
n the country has to wait months for his next visit.
FR=
IDAY’s topic will be related to floorcraft and will complement this month’s=
workshop series with Armando & Nuria, and the workshop just given by J=
ulio & Virginia. I love that all the instructors can tune in and give u=
s different perspectives on how to navigate and handle traffic on the milon=
ga floor.
Think how great it would be if everyone understood h=
ow the music guides the pace of traffic. In the absence of stationary coupl=
es or people trying to pass or cutting across the floor, leaders would find=
it a lot easier to be creative and enjoy their dance. How to make it=
happen? The same way good turnout at milongas happens when X number of ind=
ividuals decide to attend — start with learning how to do this yourse=
lf! Hope to see you Friday!
8:00 – 9:00pm Workshop with =
RICHARD COUNCIL
9:00pm – 12:00am Milonga with DJ/VJ CHUCK HAND =

The show is a contemporary expression of milongueros today. Julio and Armando are world renowned tango ambassadors. In the =
years when young people did not dance tango, Julio and Armando observed, st=
udied, and practiced tango in the Milongas in Buenos Aires. They both devel=
oped unique styles that respect the traditions while developing their tango=
in a contemporary style. This is Today’s Tango!
